2009 - 2013
|
Board Member, Catchment Youth Services
Located in the City of Darebin, Catchment Youth Services (CYS) provides emergency accommodation to homeless youth escaping violence. I joined the Board on invitation from the Secretary and CEO, with the specific goal of helping the organisation get their finances "back on track" and exploring options to keep the refuge operating. In my time with Catchment Youth Services I helped bring about change in the way they organised and administered their finances. This enabled CYS to demonstrate good financial stewardship and ensured that government funding, which was under immediate threat, was maintained. With government funding uncertainty an ongoing issue, I took the view that our best chance of safeguarding the organisation's long-term future would be to join forces with another emergency accomodation provider. Working with the Committee of Management and CEO we undertook a review of options for partnership or merger and in 2013 successfully merged with another organisation. |
